The Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association (LAIPLA) Spring Seminar, scheduled June 8-10, in La Jolla, Calif., will provide important information regarding intellectual property practices and e-discovery. The conference opens at 2:10 p.m. on June 8 with remarks by event chairman Phillip Lee, Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Evan J Wallach, Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit Court.
The LAIPLA seminar’s workshops cover a wide range of intellectual property and e-discovery topics. Patent Monetization, International Patent Strategies and Patentable Subject Matter offer insight into many intellectual property laws that affect litigation today. In addition, one seminar will offer “Viewpoints from the Bench,” featuring former California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno as well as the Honorable Janis L. Sammartino, Honorable Marilyn L. Huff, and Honorable Cathy Ann Bencivengo, offering opinions from a judge’s viewpoint. The “Year in Review” seminars scheduled for Sunday, promise to provide important information related to patent, trademark and copyright issues over the past year.
Brian Arnold, 2011-2012 president of LAIPLA, will provide opening remarks for the Saturday session. That evening there will be a reception and dinner that is open to all attendees and guests, during which Gary Nelson will deliver the keynote address. Monica Scheetz, 2012-2013 president of LAIPLA, will provide farewell remarks on Sunday to close the conference.
